This category groups DRS Development’s engine builds for the air-cooled 911 that aren’t tied to one specific generation: the 911 3.2 Highspark engine, a factory-correct OEM rebuild, a bespoke performance build, and the OEM+ rebuild that extends the same process across the 911, 964 and 993. All four are complete units rather than a rebuild of a customer’s original engine, delivered ready to install.
These builds follow the process founder Jan Mertens has refined since starting DRS Development in 2011: teardown, inspection, machining and reassembly to tolerance, tested before it ships rather than assumed correct from spec. It’s the same standard documented in Jan’s Project Phoenix 964 build series, which exists specifically so 911 owners can see what a rebuild involves before committing an original engine to one.
For generation-specific parts (timing tools, brake calipers, lighting), see the 2.7 G-models, F&G-models and SC and 3.2 pages. Custom or one-off engine work outside these four standard builds is quoted individually under Services.
